BOEF
Boef needs no introduction.
The French-Algerian rapper and vlogger has been a mainstay in the Dutch rap scene since his Zonamo session in 2015 and the release of his debut EP Gewoon Boef in February 2016.
The follow-up was inevitable.
Boef runs a YouTube channel with over 820,000 subscribers, attracting hundreds of thousands of views per vlog. He dropped his debut album Slaaptekort in March 2017, which went platinum, amassed 100 million streams, and earned him the title of the world’s 28th most-streamed artist during the album release weekend.
And the momentum didn’t stop there.
Several singles from the album achieved platinum or multi-platinum status, and the music video for his track Habiba became one of the most-viewed Dutch music videos of all time, surpassing 59 million views. As if that wasn’t enough, Boef secured a sales and distribution deal with Sony.
In early 2020, the documentary Gewoon Boef was released,
offering a glimpse into the life of Sofian (Boef’s real name) and giving fans a chance to know the rapper on a deeper level. Within 24 hours, the documentary became the most-streamed doc on Videoland ever—definitely worth a watch!
In July 2020, Boef dropped his second studio album Allemaal Een Droom,
featuring artists like Ronnie Flex, Ashafar, Dopebwoy, and international superstar Tory Lanez. The album shattered Spotify’s record for the most-streamed album in 24 hours, with nearly 5 million streams. Additionally, Boef ranked among the top 20 most-listened-to artists worldwide that day.
